This week, check out everyone's 3-minute video on using interactive whiteboards (see links on right side of this blog), and post a reflection in our course Moodle by Wednesday midnight that identifies an appropriate use of an interactive whiteboard and potentially, how you might use such technology in your own classroom in the near future. Follow-up after reading everyone's posts by midnight Sunday, 18 March. I'm hoping that by spending some additional time reflecting on this, we might move the success of the technology further for our own use. Clearly, we never want to use technology just to say we used it.
Looking ahead to next week, we'll share podcasts that we create, audio with still images or even video podcasts. These will be 30-second or maximum 60-second podcasts with public service type announcements. The hope is that creating these is so easy to do that we can use them as teaching / learning opportunities for our students when appropriate. With Mac computers using Garageband, it literally can take about 10 minutes max to create a 30-second podcast (although it can take hours, too). With Windows computers, we need third party software (Audacity is one of the best free pieces) and then we can create audio podcasts pretty easily, but not video ones. If you feel you can do this well, consider learning on the other platform as well to see how to do this no matter what type of computer your school district invests in. I've started some tutorial links on our class blog.
